Back at it after my race on Saturday. This was just an easy run to make sure all body parts were still functioning correctly. It was pretty warm and humid but I kept my HR down low and just cruised through the run. At mile 9 I got up to, what I call, marathon pace. Supposedly my easy runs should be below 14 BPM HR.

Another day, another 10 mile run!

I actually think I'm loosing it :-) I got up at what I though was 5:45 am to run, got ready, went out and and started running my 10 miles. As I was running I kept thinking, "there doesn't seem to be much traffic this morning". About halfway through my run I then started thinking, "it seems like it should be getting light by now". When I finally finished my run I realized I must have gotten up at 4:45 am as I was finished and it was only a little past 6:00 am. So, I went in the house, took a shower, and went back to bed for an hour. :-)

Like I said...I think I'm loosing it!

This was the same run as yesterday just a little faster. 3 miles @ MP (below 8:00) and a few others close. I was really just running with no real goal.

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

I really haven't gotten back on my training schedule yet since I ran the race on Saturday. I just didn't feel like going to the track for my Interval Workout. I was going to run my Tempo run today but a mile into my run it started raining so I ditched that idea. At about the 3 mile mark it started to pour down and on mile 4,5,6 I was running through water that was 6" deep. Needless to say I changed my run to a MP run instead of a Tempo run. :-) I bet all  those drivers who passed me thought I had lost my mind!

Three weeks until the San Antonio Rock & Roll Marathon and again I'm thinking there's no way for me to run the paces I want to run (and that I've been training for). Even of this 10 mile run I ran slower than MGP and my HR (effort) was too high. I find myself now hoping for some miricle energy burst that carries me through the race. Who knows, it happened in the Army Marathon, maybe it will happen again!

This is the run I've been needing. Finally the weather was perfect for me, I was rested and everything felt good. My training called for 20 @ 7:41 but after the first loop I knew I could do better. The first 7 mile loop I tried to just keep my HR below 150, the second 7 mile loop I concentrated on keeping it below 155 and the last 7 mile loop below 160 until the last 2 miles when I went ahead and pushed it and let my HR rise. If I can control my HR in the marathon in three weeks I believe I could come very close to running a 3:16 marathon. I need some good weather though!

I guess it's time to start tapering down now. All the body parts are in good condition. :-) ...so hopefully I'll go into the race nice and healthy.

It's interesting to see the correlation of the identical miles (1& 7, 2 & 8, etc.) and the HR comparison. It was also nice to feel confident to run the last mile faster than any others.

To the right is each of the 7 mile pace averages.
