Decided to try a double digit run today. Two of my small loops equals 13.5 miles so that's what I decided to run. It was hot, the dew point was high and I sweated like a pig (actually I don't think pigs even sweat).

Even though it was slow I consider this an accomplishment because I completed the run and didn't feel too bad afterwards. Things are coming back slowly but I think I'm going to have to do some type of modified marathon training program to be ready for San Antonio Rock-N-Roll on November 17th.

Luke 14:28-33  or which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ Or what king, going out to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and deliberate whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? And if not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace. ...

Random Thoughts:

I have run 26 out of the last 30 days. So far so good, other than I'm slow and out of condition.

I'm taking today. Everything is good other than I went to bed late last night. I'll start again tomorrow.

I have about 13 weeks before the Rock-N-Roll Marathon in San Antonio. Hopefully I will really begin improving in the next few weeks. My only concern is training in this heat. With the heat, humidity and dew point we have here in central Texas it makes it very difficult to successfully complete any long runs. I feel I need to be running some 15 mile + runs soon.

I'm not really sure I know what I want to accomplish in this upcoming marathon. Originally I had convinced myself that a 3:22 was now my base time and it would only get better from there. But now, with the injury and loss of training time, I have a lot of doubt. I almost wish I could just consider this a "fun run" and take it really easy but that is so against my internal gut feeling it's impossible for me to seriously consider. I will put out a full effort or bonk trying.

Thursday I am going to Illinois for a vacation. We will be there for about 10 days. I'm hoping to get some really good training in while I'm there and boost my confidence. The weather should be much cooler than here in Texas.

I felt worse than I've felt in a while when I started and better than I've felt in a while when I finished?

The weather conditions are just brutal right now. 79 degrees, 85% humidity, 70 degree dew point and dust from Africa filling the sky.

Planned 8, ran 10 with a fast finish last half mile.

I'm in Illinois now and will be here until next friday. The weather is much cooler but the dew point is still high. I didn't run yesterday so I was pretty fresh today. I didn't really have a plan for running today so I just went out with the intention to run maybe 6-10 miles by feel.

The terrain is fairly flat here with just a few small rolling hills. On the first mile it seemed my legs just wanted to go the slow pace I've been running the last few weeks but after a mile or so I was able to convience them that it was okay to run faster. Most of this run was fairly easy but I did push it on the last mile but not to race effort. We'll see how I feel tomorrow before determining a running plan for the next few days. I'm hoping the dew point goes down a little. I believe I will get another boost of energy if it does. Today the temperature was 69 (nice!) the humidity was 85, and the dewpoint was 69. This is still not in a very good range for running per the chart I posted the other day about dew point.

I ran a little slower today. It was a little warmer and the dew point and humidity was still high. My legs seemed a little stiff and heavier. I ran the same route as yesterday.
