For some reason I haven't been able to post any "Comments" on my Blog through my phone...? I can post comments to other people's Blogs, just not mine so over the weekend I only posted "0" mileage and no other details. Anyway, nothing has changed on my knee except it continues to feel better. At times it feels 100% other times the top inside around the kneecap and quad feel tight and hurt quite a bit. I 've been looking into this and I think it has something to do with my Vastus Medialis (Quad) were it ties to my knee cap. I can hold it in a certain direction for a while and the pain goes completely away, other times I'll be sitting doing nothing in a comfortable position and when I move it, it's tight. Tomorrow I'm going to start going to the gym every day and working anything that doesn't hurt :-)

Now to the important stuff...

This weekend Sarah (my wife) and I went to Tuscaloosa, Al to see Callie (our daughter) compete in the National Collegiate Triathlon Finals. This was a cool meet. I think they had about 2,000 college competitors. This was Callie's first full triathlon. She has only competed in two sprint triathlons (both in the last month). All in all Callie did well for not really being able to training properly for this type of competition. She had a stress fracture in her ankle that kept her from running for several months and school work that kept her from really trainning hard. She was just released to run up to 6 miles and can only do that slow. She is actually a very strong runner. She is also new to biking and swimming but been improving quickly in both of these events over the past few months. I suspect by next year she will improve her performance significantly...she is a very determined girl... :-) ... and I'm a proud Dad...!

Yeah...Look at me....! I'm on the Board again...! I went to the gym this morning: First I ran the treadmill for 1 mile at a 12 min pace, then high rep bench, then hig rep leg raises, then high rep flys, then another set of high rep leg raises (different type). I was feeling pretty good at this time, the soreness in my knee was the same (only slightly uncomfortable at certain angles or doing certain things). Then I decided to try the bike so I rode for 1 mile then did high rep curls. Still nothing was hurting worse so I decided to try the Eliptical Machine. I have never used one and quickly found out that you can rotate your feet either forward or backwards. Going backwards put less pressure on the sore point on my knee so I did that for 1 mile trying to keep the stride pace above 160 but with low resistance. Even this did not seem to bother my knee any more than normal movement. I was able to get my heart rate to 140 for the end of the eliptical workout. Last I did did high rep calf raises. All in all I feel really good about the workout. I am at work and will put some ice on the knee...just as a precaution. If nothing changes I will continue this type workout for a few days...Keep your fingers crossed...!

I counted the treadmill run and the eliptical mile as two miles but didn't count the bike...Hope that's all fair... :-)

After yesterday's workout all seemed good so I picked it up a little today. I went to the Gym again: 1 treadmill mile at 10:30 pace, upper body high rep weights, 1 treadmill mile at 9:30 pace, upper body high rep weights & leg extensions, 1 eliptical mile up to 150 HR, upper body high rep weights, 1 treadmill mile at 8:30 pace.....whewwww that was long winded...!

Anyway, everything seems pretty good. some soreness is still there (as I have described before) but it did not get worse after this workout. Today I go to the doctor...who will probably tell me to lay off of it longer...

Mark 2:17
On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

The knee is feeling better. When I got up this morning it felt perfect. I went to the gym and alternated 1 mile running sessions and high rep weights. The first two miles and the last two were Mr. Treadmill and the middle two were Ms. Elliptical. My miles were 9.5,8.5,8,8 and on the elliptical I kept 180 to 200 stride rate. That elliptical really works some different muscles...! As I work the knee is gets a little tight/sore/something so that's why I've been letting it relax after a mile. The rest let's it relax and go back to normal.

Mark 4

The Parable of the Growing Seed

26 He also said, “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. 27 Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. 28 All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. 29 As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.”

One step forward and two steps back....? Went to the gym this morning with the same intention as the last couple of days. Began with a 1.5 mile easy run on the Treadmill, high rep wieghts then another 1.5 miles on the treadmill, weights, 1.5 miles on the Eliptical, weights, and another 1.5 miles on the treadmill. Thought things were good but now, after an hour or so my knee is pretty sore.

Here's my diagnoses....

 Quadriceps Tendon

It's very common for the quadriceps tendon to develop tendonitis, especially in professional athletes. The quadriceps tendon runs from the bottom of the quadriceps muscle down the front of the knee underneath the patellar (knee cap). If you have quadriceps tendonitis you will feel the pain directly above your knee cap. In some cases, the pain may extend up the front of the leg. The pain will feel worse when you sit down, or bring your foot up towards your buttocks. This is because the quadriceps tendon and muscle have to stretch. You may also find if you have quadriceps tendonitis that the area where your quadriceps meet your knee cap there might be some redness and swelling.

Ezekiel 37:6
I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’”

a time to tear down and a time to build,
