Today's run was the same as last Thursday. 10 mile Tempo with 1 mile Warm-up and 1 mile Cool-down. I felt sluggish this morning and knew from the start that I wasn't going to do as well as last week. My legs were just tired and heavy feeling. The weather didn't help me mentally either. My effort was much less than last week with an average HR of 153 instead of 160 so maybe I was just being lazy?

That run looks very good to me. If you are a sluggard you are certainly a diligent one.

Pretty good run for the conditions. I can never push my hr very high in the heat and humidity, just seems like there is no power in the legs, so I never try. Ok maybe it is laziness.

It's kinda funny, I went back to my run log from 2010 (my first 10 mile run) and saw that I ran 10 miles at a 9:04 pace with the same HR. It's funny how much the goal has changed. It just reinforces the article DerHammer posted yesterday! :-)

I once read a comment from a well-known coach that went something like this:

"People often say 'I felt really good today, I don't know why I ran so slowly'. That's why they ran slowly. They didn't run hard enough to not feel good."

Although this doesn't quite fit what you experienced, since you didn't feel good from the start, maybe the ways in which you felt crummy didn't have to impact your running as much as you allowed it to. I'm sure this has happened to me many times, though without wearing a HR monitor I wouldn't have noticed.

On a more positive note, the fact you were able to keep under 7:30 pace when you didn't "have it" is a really good sign!
