Good luck Saturday!

I'm running another freebie 5k this weekend too. Trying to bust 20 this time.

Too bad you cant just jump up to Idaho...45 degrees this morning and no wind and lots of blue sky!

From Russ on Fri, May 24, 2013 at 09:54:30 from 74.114.3.253

That sounds miserable. Good thing summer's just starting. Oops. :(

On your Bible verse, my favorite quote related to that was one of my church leaders when I was on an LDS mission in England: "The church isn't a rest home for the righteous, it's a work house for the wicked."

From Bam on Fri, May 24, 2013 at 10:02:47 from 89.126.28.24

Russ, shouldn't it be a workhouse for the righteous - you know, to help the sinners. I'm not being my usual silly self here, I'm being serious. Surely one of the main [ideas?] of faith/ religion or whatever the 'right ' term is, is to help the 'sinners', to forgive them and show them the way etc. Doesn't God or Jesus or whomever it is, hold a soft spot for those sinners and are they not more welcome in the Kingdom of Heaven than the converted etc. Do you get my point?

From Russ on Fri, May 24, 2013 at 10:08:52 from 74.114.3.253

Bam, that's exactly why I like that quote/thought. Church isn't for the righteous, because none of us are "righteous". Only Christ was perfect, therefore the rest of us are imperfect, i.e. sinners, i.e. wicked. We all need to work every day to be a little bit better, help each other to be a bit better, and when we fall down (as we all will) we pick ourselves up again and carry on. I know many who don't want to come to church because they're not "perfect" and feel they don't fit in. None of us are perfect, so the idea is for all to come join us as we're all in the same boat, trying to be a little more perfect like our example, Christ.

I like that Russ - that's a nice answer.

Ha ha ... good discussion but I'm not getting into this. :-) My beliefs are very different Mormon beliefs. There are NO works that will get you into heaven! I just post the scriptures and let them speak for themselves. :-)

"Hospital" for sinners sounds better to me :)

From Rye on Fri, May 24, 2013 at 10:44:08 from 71.220.176.93

Preston, I know you don't want to get in on the discussion......but we are not so different in our beliefs. Through Christ all things are possible. Compassion and kindness to our fellow men, good works??? Don't we all need to be involved in good works? I know you and your awesome daughter are involved in "good works".. In the bible it teaches us to serve, keep the Lorda commandments, which all require doing. So I think that we are more alike than you think. You are a true follower of Christ....rock on or how about run on....differences yes.....but still followers of Christ .:)
