Progression Run today. On the Bam Schedule it calls for 8 but my closest loop route is 9 so I made it 9 with the last mile just a jog/walk mile.

Started out slow for the first two miles then just started picking it up as I felt like it. The last half mile or so was pretty fast.

72 Degrees, 85% Humidity - It felt really hot and I sweated a lot. :-(

Not sure if it's because I haven't run like this in a while, or if I ran this run too hard, or if this is the way I should feel, but I'm feeling a little lactated this afternoon.(Not sure if "lactated" is the right word. :-)

Even with my sagacity:) I'm not sure if 'lactated' is a word but I do like it. IJR has coined a new word!

It's ok to go over the lactate threshold on a progression run, so long as you don't go over the threshold for too long.

If you move from what feels like 10k pace to 5k pace to 3k pace in the final half mile or so you'll be ok. But you don't want to be going any faster than that and you don't want to be going 10k pace for any longer than about 5 mins.

Remember, threshold pace is roughly about the pace you can hold going flat out for about 60 mins.

You need to slowly and naturally build up to threshold pace, hold it for a good while, and then in the final mile and a half move up to 10k pace for a mile or so and then ease through the gears to 3k pace and maintain it for the final quarter of a mile.

It doesn't matter if you don't get it exactly right, the main thing to try and do is make sure you don't tie up and have to slow down/stop the run before you get to the end - as happened to me the other day.

I think lactated has to do with nursing mothers.
