I really haven't gotten back on my training schedule yet since I ran the race on Saturday. I just didn't feel like going to the track for my Interval Workout. I was going to run my Tempo run today but a mile into my run it started raining so I ditched that idea. At about the 3 mile mark it started to pour down and on mile 4,5,6 I was running through water that was 6" deep. Needless to say I changed my run to a MP run instead of a Tempo run. :-) I bet all  those drivers who passed me thought I had lost my mind!

Three weeks until the San Antonio Rock & Roll Marathon and again I'm thinking there's no way for me to run the paces I want to run (and that I've been training for). Even of this 10 mile run I ran slower than MGP and my HR (effort) was too high. I find myself now hoping for some miricle energy burst that carries me through the race. Who knows, it happened in the Army Marathon, maybe it will happen again!

It takes awhile to recover fully from a half...you'll be good by race day.

Agreed - don't stress about it. I read this recently and it hit home:

“Workouts are for improving specific physiological systems, not for proving how fit you are. You prove your fitness on race day.”

When analyzing workouts, it’s tempting to compare splits and workout times

to potential race performances. However, the two rarely correlate.

Perhaps you’re working on speed, which is a weakness for your predominantly slow-twitch muscles, or you’re heading into the workout with tired legs to help simulate marathon fatigue. Regardless, you may find yourself running slower than expected or struggling to maintain race pace.

This can be frustrating and demoralizing if you’re always looking to measure your workout performance with race potential.

However, if you focus instead on executing the purpose of the workout and

completing it to the best of your ability, you’re making progress

physiologically, which will ultimately lead to a personal best on race day.

Your takeaway – You should only use your workouts to measure progress

when compared with similar workouts under similar conditions, not as a

measurement of race times or potential. Remember, workouts are for

improving specific physiological systems, not for proving how fit you are. You prove your fitness on race day."

Don't worry about the missed training. There are lots of stories among the elite marathoners of huge PRs after they were forced by injury to curtail their training leading up to the big race.

Aside from the taper, you should get a huge boost from lower temperatures on race day. 72F with high humidity and 6" of standing water hardly qualifies as ideal running conditions -- there is no such thing as a marathon steeplechase. I think you will be fine.
