Today was a PERFECT day to run...but I couldn't run :-(

59 degrees, 30% humidity, calm, clear .... WOW...!!!

The problem is my hip is still hurting. After my run on Sunday I could hardly walk without limping. It's really weird becaues it feels like what a hip flexor sould feel like (even though I've never had a hip flexor). The pain is actually on the outside and top part of my hip bone. It doesn't hurt to raise my leg it hurts when I put weight on it.

This morning I biked, since biking doesn't hurt my hip at all. 59 degrees and 30% humidity is too cold to bike though. When I was finished with the 29.5 mile ride my feet had turned completly white and felt like stumps. This Raynaud's Disease is the pits!

So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.

I have the same problem with my feet when I ride in the cold. Have you tried putting plastic bags on your feet(over your socks and under your shoes). I started doing that with bread bags when I was commuting in the rain just to keep my socks and feet dry and found that it helped keep them warm too.

Bummer about the hip, I hope it quits nagging you soon.

My pastor gave me my stupid jersey for the "bike team" on Sunday. He thinks they are so awesome. I tried my best to pretend I thought it was cool. I know I'm going to have to wear it at least once for 70 miles next summer. It will make me ride faster, that's for sure :)

RT,

Thanks for the advice on the bags, I'll try that.

I'm really disgusted with this hip thing because I know it's not an overuse issue and I can't figure out what brought it on. I've given it 7 weeks to heal (no running) and it won't go away.

Sorry about the jersey...it must be really cool :-) You should send me a picture :-)

I'd post a pic on FB, but my biker(motorcycle) friends would make fun of me :)

It's really not that bad as far as jerseys go. I just have a thing against wearing bicycle clothes. I rode the STP, 206 miles in a day on my mountain bike wearing board shorts, tshirt and a skateboard helmet.

Sorry about your hip. It sounds pretty similar to what I had earlier this summer, could do anything on it except run. In particular, I couldn't stand on that leg and lift the other one, like for putting on pants or socks. My chiro put me on an aggressive stretching routine (hamstrings all the way up to lower back). He said the piriformis was pinching the sciatic nerve passing through the area and that was the source of the pain. Not sure if I completely buy the explanation, but two different chiros said the same thing, and in truth the stretching seemed to help a lot. Yours may be a slightly different location, though.

Man, you are having a rough go at it lately. Maybe Flat's stretching thing is worth a try. Hoping you get it figured out!
