Good morning ride. It seemed a little cooler this morning, I guess the humidity was a little lower than normal. I'm starting to press the average speed up. Now it seems that about 19 mph is the reasonable effort in the hilly country where I live. I rode a new loop today that was right at 30 miles. This is a good morning ride with not too much traffic.

Another 1-1/2 hours on the bike. Rode the now standard 29.5 route. It seems my speed is increasing slightly. Today felt like stronger ride and my HR avg was only 139. It did hover around 150 for a lot of the ride but dropped quickly on the flats and down hills. My legs still need to get in better biking shape as they are what gets tired way before I peak my HR.

No ride tomorrow I've going to get my hand gun lisence so I'll soon be packing.

50 Mile Bike Ride - About 17-17.5 Avg. Speed.

I started at 12:30 and it was hot until about mile 35 when a wind storm blew in and sandblasted me with blowing sand, then it rained a little so the road was wet. I was sliding all over the road so I had to slow way down.

Rode with the cycling group and Sarah today. We rode 10 miles easy and then I decided to run 1 mile to see how my side/hip was feeling. I should not have run. It felt okay during the run but last night it started hurting and continues today. Strange, it feels like a strained ligiment.

This 29.5 mile morning is getting to be a standard. I really wasn't excited about riding this morning since I rode yesterday evening but I pushed myself out the door. I didn't feel like I was riding any faster than my previous rides but at the halfway point I realized I was quite a bit faster than my previous fastest half. I decided to go ahead and push it in and see how much I could improve. I ended up .7 faster than I have ever ridden this route before. I think I'm getting stronger.

Good things today..!

Rode 29.5 miles @ 19 mph

Ran 2 Miles @ 7:50 pace

Spent time with Callie Andra (my daughter) :-)

Callie is home for two more day so that make three days I get to spend time with her before she goes back to college. She wanted to run so I biked my usual 29.5 miles then ran 2 miles with her.

So far my hip/side feels fine althought running felt very awkward. It felt like I was pounding the ground and very jerky with my stride. It did feel good though!

Notice how low the HR was, this is the problem with biking (compared to running). It's virtually impossible for me to get my HR above 80% while biking. Even on a "hard/fast" ride it never averages above 80% and on a day like today I might as well be doing leg lifts on the couch.
