I feel like such an idiot...! I just realized I was one day off (since Monday) on my Blog entries. I was having so much trouble with the Blog working last weekend I couldn't easily enter information and I guess the holiday threw me off. I've just been merrily enterinng data in sequencial order not even looking at what day the calendar said. Anyway this report is actually Monday's report. (Man...I hope Burt doesn't read this entry!)

I just read your personal info. How fun that you do Team Roping! We have a small home in a small town in southern Utah and we always make sure we go down when they are having a rodeo. I can't watch the bull riding! I cover my eyes the entire time! My kids love to chase the pigs at the end of the rodeo.

Team roping is kinda like running. You don't realize how many people are really involved in it until you get involved in it. Some of the team ropings I go to will have several thousand entries...just like races!

I didn't know that. I thought they would just accommodate the amount of people wanting to compete. I am always surprised by how many people at the rodeo are from different states that drive all the way to Panguitch, Utah. Do you win prize money like races? I know the bull riders make money....if they don't die first! ha!

There are all levels of competition, just like running. Also there are many types of competative events (like a track meet). A rodeo, as you know, several of the "western" style events. I compete in "team roping" which is only one of the "western" style events. It is one of the more popular since all ages compete at a fairly even playing field It's also kinda like golf...age is not as much of a consideration because it's mostly technical. You don't have to be physically strong to be good. Winning can be from simple prizes up to thousands of dollars. My biggest win lately was about 9K. I compete in what is considered the amateur level.

WOW! That is amazing! I didn't know there was that much money in rodeoing....and that is the amateur level?! Nice work! You'd be fun to watch. If you ever hit Panguitch, Utah, we will be there. However, I am positive you wouldn't get a whole lot of money from that Rodeo! I am sure it wouldn't be worth your time!

My biggest event is coming up in December in Las Vegas. 1st place payout is 100K but there substantial payout through about 30 places. I've never competed at this event before but qualified earlier this year. Because it is a "national final" event there will only be about 300 entries in my catagory.

That is great that you qualified to go to Vegas this year! I can't believe the amount of payout! Where do they get their money from? Sponsors...maybe?

Some sponsors, some entry fee, some part taken from events all year.

Yeah I'm going to be working on it but I can't let my running suffer :-)
