Aerobic base workout for 5 miles then a fast finish.

I really though and was trying to run the last 2 miles @ 6:15 pace but my aerobic condition got the best of me and I had to slow down and eventaully stop before I even reach the 2 mile mark.

You are able to do the smartest and the hardest thing in training which is listening to you body and react to it. Great workout. 70 in Texas we had close to ninety in Kansas city crazy weather.

You're a better man than me. I would have kept going until something broke.

I tried "pacing" with the virtual partner on my watch yesterday. As soon as that little guy got ahead of me on the screen the race was on even though my leg was hurting. I have zero self control at the slightest hint of competition.

I did stop because I was thinking it would be better than burning myself out before the race on Saturday...but now I hesitant to even enter the race. $25 entry fee and sub-19 = priceless, $25 entry fee and no PR = worthless!

6:07 Pace x 3.1 ...I'm afraid I'm not in shape for that yet.

Sub 19 is a tall order for old guys like us :) I think you CAN do it, but only you know WHEN you can do it.
