I don't really have any plan for running right now so I'm just getting up and then deciding what to run and how long. The problem is I was an hour late to work today....I can't make a habit of this. I want to run some long, really slow miles and try and keep my HR below 140 but I just can't seem to do it. As soon as I get started I just don't like running that slow. On some of the hill I almost have to walk to keep it that low. After mile 4, which has a big hill, I just gave in and ran what I wanted to run!

Looking good!

Don't worry too much about the HRM, just go by feel. Heart rate will always go up with hills, and cardiac drift will happen on a 16 miler.

Stay at an easy intensity though... if that's the purpose of your workout.

Carl beat me to it - the point of running easy (at least for me) is to rest/save your legs, not so much your heart, so I'd say do whatever feels good and easy. Nice start to the week!

Totally agree! Keep it where it feels good, this is why I only wear a HR monitor once in awhile and that is for tough/fast runs.

Yep, what they said. I only wear a HRM so I can look at the data later. I always go by feel or pace when I'm running.
