So my wife tried to called the hotel we are supposed to be staying in (Howard Johnson Fenway Park) this morning and could not get through. Then she called the Howard Johnson main office. She was informed that thisHoward Johnson had been sold and they did not own the property any more and the conformation number we were given was no longer valid. AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

As I type this I am on hold with Marathon Hotel Guide (the company we made the reservation through) waiting for them to get back with me. They still had the conformation show as a good one. I'm not sure what we are going to do.

I am very anxious right now!

I did run easy today:

Mile Time HR HR %
1 9:04:00 131 66%
2 9:03:00 127 63%
3 8:43:00 127 63%

5 8:21:00 130 65%

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Wow, I bet you're anxious just be glad your wife called the hotel and now you have time to get all this straight before you arrive. Good Luck and keep us posted.

HBR,

I just hung up the phone after 3.5 hours on it. No resolution yet. The closest possibility is 8-9 miles away and $50 night more. The only closer room they are offering is $225 per night more.

From Tom K on Wed, Apr 16, 2014 at 11:53:11 from 174.58.4.250

Wow. What added stress! Sorry, man.

From Kam on Wed, Apr 16, 2014 at 13:09:32 from 68.66.163.179

ugh. hotel snafu, just what you don't need. I hope it all works out.

From I Just Run on Wed, Apr 16, 2014 at 14:59:28 from 67.79.11.242

I have a room reservation at the Ramada Inn (8 miles away) or at least I have a confirmation number (for what good it is). This is the only place available unless I wanted to pay $225 per night more. This one is only about $50 more (isn't that nice)! Enough of my ranting....I am grateful we have somewhere to stay! :-)

I booked my Hotel back in August of last year through Marathon Hotel Guide. It was a Howard Johnson Hotel near Fenway Park.

From Dave S on Wed, Apr 16, 2014 at 16:55:28 from 63.248.20.148

Sorry about the troubles with the hotel. When I ran it three years ago, we got a room in a town about 12 or 15 miles from the start line. There seemed to be plenty of rooms available at very good rates. My wife just dropped me off near the start line that morning then went back to bed for a while before her and the boys drove into Boston to watch from near the finish. I guess this would only work though if you have a rental car.

Anyway just an option if nothing else works out.

Good luck Monday. It looks like your training has been great. Looks like you're ready for a big PR. Whats your race number?

Your training looks great, the forecast looks good, the hotel situation is really unfortunate. I hope you're able to have a blast at Boston 2014 and run a PR. Best wishes in running your race.

Not the best situation to have to deal with the week before a marathon but I'm sure glad you found a room so quick. Good Luck and get back to enjoying your taper.

From Yasir on Wed, Apr 16, 2014 at 19:02:53 from 99.20.240.112

why we always have hotel problems when we are running a marathon( I wish it woudl happen during business trips). my last mrarhon the heat stoped working in a cold Iowa night with 2 kids and not very happy wife in the middle of the night. I feel you man. Elite runners never have to worry about any of that non sinc.

From Tom Slick on Thu, Apr 17, 2014 at 08:08:19 from 168.179.157.44

Glad you were able to resolve your room problem. did the marathon hotel guide people help out or did you have to go fend for yourself?

From SlowJoe on Thu, Apr 17, 2014 at 10:50:22 from 168.215.171.129

What a hassle, sorry to hear about that. I'm staying in Providence, RI again (much farther than 8 miles) and it worked out last year - you'll be fine! Still annoying that they lost the reservation though...
