Seems I may have a set-back. I went to the track this morning to run my Repeats but had to cut them short.  I warmed up for 2 miles then ran my first 1000 feeling good. My next repeat was a 2000 and halfway through it I got a sharp pain in my hipbone...right on the outside, up high. It is a little sore just to touch but definitely hurts when I run or even walk ..... BUMMER ....!!

Target:
Repeats - 10-20 Min. Warm-up, 1000m @ 3:44 (5:58 Pace), 2000m @ 7:50 (6:04 pace), 1000m @ 3:44 (5:58 Pace), (400m Recovery between each), 10 Min. Cool-Down.

Notes:
Felt fine through warm-up and first 1000. Halfway through the 2000 I got a sharp pain in my hip (upper/outside). Had to quit…no way I could run, to much pain!!!

On a better note I had a good roping weekend. I went to Hallettsville Texas to a World Series Team Roping and won 1st in the #11 Division. This makes me eligible to compete in Las Vegas in December (at the Finals) for the big prize money. Payout for the finals is over a million dollars in the #11 Division with first place paying about $ 200,000 for the top team.

Genesis 32:31-32

31 The sun rose above him as he passed Peniel,[a] and he was limping because of his hip. 32 Therefore to this day the Israelites do not eat the tendon attached to the socket of the hip, because the socket of Jacob’s hip was touched near the tendon.

Congrats on the win, and bummer about the hip. Sometimes these things pass quickly... ice, rest, and vitamin I usually help a lot when I get sore. I'll be praying for a quick healing! I'd take it easy on the speedwork and just focus on some easy miles miles when you get back to it.

From DLTheo on Mon, Mar 19, 2012 at 11:17:43 from 76.28.161.119

Sorry to hear about the hip IJR. I, too, am suffering from a sore hip this morning, but hopefully nothing serious for either of us.

RT - Vitamin I? I haven't heard of that one.

From rAtTLeTrAp on Mon, Mar 19, 2012 at 11:22:52 from 24.18.125.122

Vitamin I = Ibuprofen

From I Just Run on Mon, Mar 19, 2012 at 11:25:06 from 166.147.76.6

I've taken four so far.

From rAtTLeTrAp on Mon, Mar 19, 2012 at 11:38:36 from 24.18.125.122

I'd take 4(800mg total) 3 times a day. Although my initials are MD, I am NOT a doctor so do this at your own risk :)

From I Just Run on Mon, Mar 19, 2012 at 12:23:43 from 67.79.11.242

Yes...I'm going to up the dosage if the pain doesn't go away. I can barely walk without wincing :-(

From DLTheo on Mon, Mar 19, 2012 at 13:40:19 from 76.28.161.119

I should've guessed! I don't usually have much benefit from ibuprofin.

From Dan on Mon, Mar 19, 2012 at 22:31:49 from 24.209.83.20

Yikes! Yes congrats, but bummer on the pain. I pray its short term!!!

From I Just Run on Tue, Mar 20, 2012 at 08:03:56 from 67.79.11.242

Hopefully the hip pain will not last long. It's not even in the joint. It's really on the top/outside of my pelvic bone. Has anyone ever experienced this before?

From DLTheo on Tue, Mar 20, 2012 at 08:30:46 from 76.28.161.119

If it's not in the joint, that's a good sign. It could be due to a number of things like tendonitis, a muscle that is inflamed and is pressing against the pelvic bone in some way.

In addition to the rest, ice and "vitamin I", you should give a foam roller a try.

From rAtTLeTrAp on Tue, Mar 20, 2012 at 08:35:12 from 24.18.125.122

Sounds like it could be this:

http://www.sports-injury-info.com/hip-flexor-injury.html

From I Just Run on Tue, Mar 20, 2012 at 08:57:41 from 67.79.11.242

I originally thought it was a Hip Flexor Problem (just by the name) but after further investigation I don't believe it's that. I have no pain in the front of my leg (where the hip flexor muscles are attached). The pain is only when I put weight on my leg. In other words pushing, pulling (the motion forward and backward) does not hurt at all and the pain is not inside the joint. It's on the outside, maybe it's not even the hip muscles, maybe it's were muscles from my torso attach to my hip pelvic? I may be able to ride a bike without any pain, I'm going to try that tomorrow.

Dang! Sorry IJR!!!
