I decided to go ahead and run my last short run this evening intead of trying to fit it in tomorrow.

1 Mile Easy, 1 Mile @ 7:26, 1 Mile @ 7:23, 1/2 Mile Easy

I'm off-line until after the race.....

It's seems a little odd sitting here looking at my running schedule and only having one more 3 mile run before the marathon on Sunday. I thought about going to the gym and cycling but then decided 2 more hours of sleep would be better than 1-1/2 hours of energy draining sweat. My plan is to run my last 3 miles tomorrow (Saturday).

I'm heading up to Ft Worth tomorrow morning and have a hotel room 1.5 miles from the race start which will be very convienent. I can just do my warm-up run from the hotel to where the race starts.

I was looking at the past results of 50-54 age group and it appears the same people run this race year after year. I should be able to run in the top 5-6 and maybe 3-4 if I had a really good race. Next year I should be able to push the leader...if all goes well :-)

Good luck. You might be suprised about how high you place in your age group.

Hoping for the best tomorrow! Let'em have it :)

Don't procrastinate posting that race report! I'm going to run the first ten with you at 7 and then I'll be watching my phone for updates.

From rAtTLeTrAp on Sun, Feb 26, 2012 at 07:34:47 from 98.247.27.122

I didn't realize until after I posted my last comment that you are 2 hours ahead of me. I got up and ran at 5:00am pst on a sunday, how's that for support :) it's 8:34 your time; expecting your half M split any minute...

From JG on Sun, Feb 26, 2012 at 07:47:11 from 71.56.87.5

I laughed to myself when Preston told me he was going to run this conservative to make sure he got a BQ ... this coming from a guy that ran nearly every workout faster than what was prescribed for a 3:15 marathon!

I am just glad he has a Garmin to slow him down, or my guess is he would currently be on a sub 3 pace!

Ok ... half split is in 1:36:56 ... betting lines are now open with 4 to 1 odds he runs a 3:15 or better!

Go Preston, Go!

From flatlander on Sun, Feb 26, 2012 at 07:52:23 from 198.207.244.102

This is very exciting. I'm headed to church but I doubt I will be paying attention.

From derhammer on Sun, Feb 26, 2012 at 08:23:59 from 70.113.125.159

50 degrees and full sun right now, so it depends on how much it warms up. Definitely sub 3:20 - certainly has a shot at 3:15.

From rAtTLeTrAp on Sun, Feb 26, 2012 at 09:40:26 from 98.247.27.122

No finish time yet?? My 20 mile update was delayed about 10 minutes. Anybody else get a finish text yet? I'm on the edge of my seat here...

From JG on Sun, Feb 26, 2012 at 09:41:56 from 71.56.87.5

No text, so maybe system is down ... but Online results show chip time of 3:30:16.

Keep your spirits up Preston, rock solid time, especially for only you 2nd marathon! You will get your BQ in OKC with steadier pacing!

From rAtTLeTrAp on Sun, Feb 26, 2012 at 09:49:35 from 98.247.27.122

So close! JG is right, you will nail it next time!

From SlowJoe on Sun, Feb 26, 2012 at 10:15:41 from 74.195.74.62

I have still only gotten the half split, thanks for the update JG.

IJR - Hopefully the initial results are just off a bit and you still got the BQ, but if not, you do have OKC and can go the super conservative route to get the BQ. It was a really windy day in Abilene, so I'm wondering if it was similar in Fort Worth.

From I Just Run on Sun, Feb 26, 2012 at 10:43:46 from 166.205.8.95

Legs cramped at mile 19....

Had to slow way down.

Maybe I'm just a half marathoner :-)

From Dan on Sun, Feb 26, 2012 at 11:08:42 from 24.209.83.20

Just got in from church to check on ya, still a solid time and very close to the bq. Obviously without cramps you got it easy.

From Steam8 on Mon, Feb 27, 2012 at 07:30:42 from 166.70.55.77

SWEET TIME! I can only hope to run a marathon in that time IJR! YEEEHHHHOOOOOO!!!!!!
