Man...I'm sure hoping the weather gets cooler for the marathon in two weeks. I'm really taking a chance running a marathon this late in the year and down by Houston where it is rarely cool. Today at 70 degrees it was tough! I ran this at MGP but there's no way I could have run 26 miles with this effort. I've learned that I have to keep my HR below 85% to maintain for a marathon.

Oh wow, hopefully the weather does take a huge dip. 70 is way too hot. Apparently 50 degrees is the perfect marathon temp, and I believe it. Anything over that and I start overheating. Well, if it is hot, wear as little of clothing as possible (singlet/tank top is a must), and keep pumping the fluids and keep a positive mindset. I believe mind over matter can happen, but it is a huge challenge. Prayers for optimal weather!

Nice run. It's always humid in Houston. I know. I grew up there and went to Optometry school there. Hopefully it will be a cool day though.

Those are some really good times. You look ready, bro!

You are ready! Focus on what you CAN control. Leave the weather in the good Lord hands. :)

IJR - Iím directing my local weather to head your way and cooperate in providing you with ideal weather conditions at your up coming marathon. Plan for the worst and hope for the best conditions and remember your hydration like Russ said. With correct hydration heat is only a maddening situation that can be overcome. Have you checked the two week forecast for the woodlands marathon area to see what the voodoo weather people are saying?

I'm hoping for some race day magic that makes these paces feel like an easy jog!
