Back into the swing of structured training but starting to taper down for the race in two and a half weeks. Last time I ran this run at 6:49 pace so I was a little disappointed in this run. I may have just been a little tire as it's the fourth day in a row that I've run. tomorrow I will rest!

Looks great! Yeah, have a day off tomorrow. Recovery is so important. You earned it anyway :)

From JG on Thu, Feb 07, 2013 at 09:50:25 from 174.49.78.66

Nice job Preston. I agre with Lily, you deserve a day off with 60 miles for the month, only 7 days in. Make sure you are supplementing that recovery with lots of protein! :)

From JG on Thu, Feb 07, 2013 at 09:59:51 from 174.49.78.66

And yes, I realize that 13 of those miles were cross training on the elliptical, but seriously, in the last 6 days you have done a 21 miler at MP, 8 x 800's, & a fast 5 mile tempo ... Rest up Brother! :)

From I Just Run on Thu, Feb 07, 2013 at 10:28:56 from 67.79.11.242

Protein. ..yes!

I know logging the elliptical miles as run miles may be stretching it a bit but from an effort standpoint they all have been like 8-9 minute recovery miles.

From Tom K on Thu, Feb 07, 2013 at 12:04:07 from 71.228.90.171

This, from a guy that has considered recording "snorkel miles, hiking miles, and kayak miles?" I say the elliptical miles count! Which reminds me, what is your metric for the team roping stuff? Is there some sort of logging of those efforts?

From JG on Thu, Feb 07, 2013 at 12:35:40 from 174.49.78.66

I would not log them simply because I use the graphs to historically manage the 'running' miles, particularly to analyze what my body can handle from an 'impact' perspective ... So you just have to be careful looking back & saying "my body handled a 60 mile week last year, why is my whatever hurting now when I do that." Just my logic, not to say you should not log them as running miles. :)

From Dan on Thu, Feb 07, 2013 at 19:27:02 from 24.209.83.20

Yes I agree, you are deserving of that day off! Good job Preston!

Tom,

Roping metric is $$$ won !!! So far $0 this year, but I've only been to one event.

Hey what a small world..I noticed that your only 10k race was in the town I grew up in. Did you ever do any roping down there? my sister used to date a dude that was big into roping this name was Lloyd Hopkins not sure if you ever heard of him. I think his older brother was room mates with George Strait when he was in College at San Marcus.

From I Just Run on Sat, Feb 09, 2013 at 14:26:40 from 12.162.141.2

Hi BB

I know all of those guys well. Lloyd s brother was a very good friend of mine. I went college at that same time and was friends with george too. Gatesville is m y home town. Theres a lot of ropers there :-)

From butlerbrunning on Sat, Feb 09, 2013 at 15:53:21 from 108.222.169.3

wow. Did you graduate from Gatesville? I still have a lot of real good friends down there. I graduated from Jonesboro in 1990.

I actually lived in Levita have you ever heard of that small town?

From I Just Run on Sat, Feb 09, 2013 at 17:42:17 from 12.162.141.2

Yes I did in 1978...a little older than you :-) we provably know a lot of the same people. I know exactlly where levita is:-)
