This run was definitly NOT intended! I went out planning on a 13 mile run but when I was 9 miles into my loop I came upon a low water crossing that was about knee deep in swiftly flowing water. It was dark and I ran into it to anckle deep soaking my shoes and socks completly. The temperature was already 42 degrees, it was raining lightly so I was already cold! I had to turn around and backtrack 9 miles making the run 18 miles. It caused me to be very late to work too! :-(

I had been dreading jumping my milage up to 18 but when I was forced to do it this morning it was not that bad. Actually, I was pretty pleased with the results. I felt like I could have upped the effort at any point and still finished strong. I did run the last 3 miles at MGP.

Glad to get a longer run under my belt, it's making me more confident that I can be in top shape for the Irvine Marathon if I decide to run it.

Ha - love it! I didn't even try to run on Leon creek today as I knew it would be whitewater rapids over there. Now that's it's over I bet you're glad to get in a really solid 18 miler.

That is too funny. Thankfully 18 fits your training cycle. If this were a month ago you probably would've been struggling but you were ready for it.

Maybe you should soak your shoes and socks in freezing water before the next race! Nice long run.

Great run. To run mp for the last 3 after that far is exceptional.

Wow, you got faster in the second half of the run after you took the plunge!!!

Thanks all,

I think I'm moving in the right direction. Still hoping to break 3:16 this spring and 3:10 next year! :-)
