Temp Run Today on the RLRF program. Scheduled was 5 miles Tempo but I went ahead and ran 6 to make up for my slacking on Tuesday :-) It's funny because when I finished the run I was thinking..."this run should have been a little easier", but as I now go back and look at my times and HR I realize that I ran a faster pace on this training run than I did in my 10K race last summer (7:00 @ 93HR  pace vs 6:54 @ 87HR). I also know that I could have gained several seconds per mile if I were really racing. I was really spent when I finished the 10K race and after this run I felt great.

I ran in my new Kinvara 2 shoes. They feel good but I can tell the difference in lack of cushioning on the sole. I think my feet will be a little sore after running in these shoes.

Great run, IJR! Great to see that kind of improvement. Yes, the Kinvara's take some time to get used to. I actually use the insoles from other shoes (ones that have a bit more cushioning) in my Kinvaras. You may have sore calves tomorrow as well.

Great run... I agree with derhammer (awesome name by the way) I have been using the asics speedstar 5 and not only my calves but my achilles is a bit on the sore side. I thought that it would be gone after a couple of weeks....I have been running steady with them except for yesterdays run. Great improvement and that's got to make you feel great!

Thanks D & R,

I'll try putting some insoles from my other shoes in the K2's or I bet a good running store will have some good insoles. My calves were sore when I wore my Brooks in the last Half but so far my calves have been fine in the K2's. I've decided to run some of my Repeats and Tempos with these new K2's to see if my feet get used to them and if I can wear them in my upcoming Half and possibly my upcoming Full.

Awesome run right there. Basically a sub-43 10K in a regular tempo run! I definitely think tempos are one of the best marathon workouts.

I just have the old kinvaras, but I definitely like them too. They are light, but easy on your feet/legs somehow.

Nice job! I have both Kinvaras and really like them. Funny how we have different views, I actually think they are a bit 'soft' of 'squishy' up front - not a lot of cushioning, but what is there I feel that way. Sent ya another PM.

Dan,

I don't know what's going on but I still haven't gotten the PM. Can you try and send it directly to my e-mail?

Great tempo run, looks like you have several races coming up soon, it's racing season in Texas.
