Well, I made it through the planned 16 miles and 1 extra just for JG...! Contrary to what it looks like on paper, this run about killed me. It reminded me of the run I made about 3 months ago when I eventually had to have my neighbor carry me back to home for the last 3 miles. It wasn't quit that bad but I really felt fatigued after about 12 miles and had a really hard time keeping my HR down (the intent was to run at below 140 BPM). As you can see it was basically impossible for the last few miles, I really had to slow down to even try. I'm assuming it has more to do with the heat than anything else. I'm sure I was dehydrated at the end as I had lost about 6 pounds from the run. The other thing is, I think I do something wrong when I run this slow because it seems to hurt my hips, legs and feet more than when I run a faster pace. Anyway, it's down hill from here for the rest of the week, no more 17 milers..!

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

But you did it! At this point in the summer it is just a matter of surviving until the cooler weather comes.

Nice going, those long runs are brutal out in the sun aren't they?

Not looking to coming back to Texas - it's a balmy 75 up here today. Too bad I can't run!

Nice 17 miler ... extra mile for me ... don't I feel special! lol About to head out for my run ... don't take it personal ... but I have no intention of running an extra mile for you! Heck, I probably won't even decide how far I am going until I make the first turn out of the neighborhood! lol Don't get too comfortable atop the leader board though ... SJ is lurking! :)

Nice job getting it done! Do you drink anything on runs that long?
