Today was supposed to be an off day or a cross-training day but I decided to just go out and run a few miles instead. I don't have time today to bike and I've really done no cross training in the last couple of weeks so I didn't think a few extra miles would hurt.

Callie is gone so I'm again running by myself. The only excitment is my new neighbors have gotten inspired by seeing me run and now they are walking almost every morning. I at least get to say "Hi" as I run by them.

Have you worked out the logistics of riding to work? Just checking out the next couple of weeks in the RLRF program. When did the intervals on Mondays feel like your body was responding to the workouts? I use to enjoy Mondays...... now I dread em' :)

I looked back at my notes and after the 5th week was where I started feeling like I handle the intervals. After that all my notes say I felt confident on the intervals. I think you have done great so far. Don't worry if you fall short slightly or need to take a little more time for recovery. I can tell you it will never be "easy" but it's not ment to be. Remember three hard workouts and two easy recovery workouts. We're going to get there with flying colors!!!

Thanks Preston, I have to say that it has been easier knowing that you were suffering (guess that isn't the case with you) through the same workouts. You have given me some great encouragement. Like you have said..... it's nice to check off each workout and feel like you have actually crossed a finish line... or something like that:)

Don't get me wrong, I did and am "suffering" on some of these runs. I have the most difficultity with the long runs myself. I believe part of the key is to make sure you're body has recovered from the previous workout when you do the next one. This way you should be energized and ready to run. Just keep checking off the workouts and I promice you will begin to feel very confident.

I've read and heard many people say "one of the most common training mistakes is that we don't run our hard runs hard enough and we don't make our easy runs/workouts easy enough".

Good getting out- The last quote there is very true. I often push on the easy runs...unless....'no watch' - try it.

Nice job getting out for some extra mileage. I think sandwiching those RLRF workouts with some easier stuff inbetween will be what puts you over the hump in the marathon.

I have rode my bike to work two times now. I have to organize everything perfectly, like taking clothes, shoes, etc. to work the day before, figure out how to get lunch and make sure there are no other activities after work. Every evening I have to got to my Martindale place to take care of my horses. This is a 25 mile detour from home too. It makes a perfect bike ride but as you can see all things have to fall together. I've had things every evening for the last two weeks and haven't been able to ride.
