Tempo Run with a little of everything today. The weather changed again. It was 55 degrees, high humidity and pretty strong winds this morning.

My goal was to warm-up then run 3 miles @ 7:30, 3 miles @ 7:15 and then 3 miles @ 7:00 pace. You can see how the wind and uphill affected mile 8 but besides that everything was good (but hard :-)! I was really happy with the 6:30 9th mile finish.

2 Timothy 4:1-22

I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. ...

Wow, great run! That's a great pace for 9 miles and a sweet finish. Training is looking great lately. Now you just need to figure out which race to taper for!

That last mile is great! 6:30 is fast. I don't even mean it's fast for being 9.5 miles deep in a run, it is simply FAST. Strong work, brother.

Thanks Joe & Tom,

I don't think I'm really going to "taper". I thinking more of "peaking" as described in this article from McMillin Running:

http://www.runnersworld.com/race-training/performance-page-dont-taper-peak

After reading this article I believe "tapering" is not the best thing for me. Every time I've tapered I've felt really sluggish before and during race day. When I've simply jumped into a race, in the middle of my regular training, I always done my best. I will cut the miles down a little bit (maybe 10 miles for the week) but besides that I'm just going into the race full steam ahead. Gotta try something new since what I've been doing hasen't worked! :-(

As long as the last 3 days or so before the race are short and easy, I like your plan!

Oops...I posted the wrong article about "Don't Taper, Peak". Here is the correct site :-)
