So today is a rest day before my Half Marathon tomorrow. I may go out this evening and run 2 miles just to keep loose.

I started looking more closely at the RLRF program and counted the miles per week the program recommends. It starts out with 23 and increases to about 35 max. (Looks like I won't be on the milage board for a while!) I then went back and looked at my running for the last 11 weeks (starting after the hip layoff) and reviewed my running and biking miles. Below is the chart:

I know this is probably information overload....sorry! Looking at the training and this history report, I believe I need to up my biking to about 80-100 miles per week for my cross training. I believe my body can easily handle 35 miles of running each week. my only concern in the program is holding the paces and finding time to ride 100 miles a week (it's hard to find the time to bike).

Interested to see how your running does with that mix of crosstraining. So far it looks like it is working!

Good luck tomorrow! Running injury free is the best. I took it for granted for years until this past summer. Interesting program. The cycling is hard I know due to time and all, but my daughter says that it is just a way of life. She puts about 1500 miles on her car a year and that is just traveling back and forth to our home on holidays. She is a cycling fool. Between work, church, and fun, she rides a ton!

I wouldn't have a clue how to translate biking miles into running miles. Maybe focus on time rather than miles? So if the plan says 1 hour of cross training, that's what to do?

I can't wait to see how this all plays out and translates to races.

Have a great race tomorrow!

Don't over think things, and do not think in terms of mileage ... that number is only one component of your workout. It is much easier to run 70 easy miles than the 35 miles the book will have you running! Same holds true for cycling. Maybe 2 hard days & one easy day ... and then a day of complete rest ... chasing mileage targets leads to over training.

Enjoy your race & give thanks you can run 13 miles, you have prepared well, and will be at the starting line healthy! That is a huge improvement from where you were 8 weeks ago.
