Ok....I have to confess, I reverted back to my old self this morning ... I Just Ran ....  I was supposed to do 10 miles with some tempo work in it but after the first mile I thought the heck with this I'm going to run longer and faster...so I did. I was feeling much better after the hydration approach I've been taking. I even carried a 16 oz bottle of water and drank it before the 4 mile point. I still ran out of water about mile 13 and could feel the effects on the last couple of miles. I think I could keep up this pace for another 5 miles or so but I'm not sure about 10 more....? I'm hoping the race in OK is more flat than my running route and this will help with the endurance at this pace. Anyway, I did it and I feel pretty good afterwards.

Wow, 16 miles -- nice going. I think all those miles you run will pay off for you big time in a marathon. I think you'll be happy with the OK course, hill-wise, but I think the wind there is usually a factor; hopefully we get lucky.

I'm not very big so I'm going to find a really BIG fast guy and stay right behind him...LOL

Nice run. I think the weekly medium long run was a key factor for me. Keep it up.

From I Just Run on Wed, Mar 23, 2011 at 16:22:53 from 67.79.11.242

Thanks Der Hammer,

I'm planning to continue to increase my milage for about 3 more weeks until I reach about 75 miles per week, then taper off for two weeks before OK.

BTW...I ran Der Hammer Style this morning...the only problem was the reflection off my white chest blinded a couple of motorist and they crashed and burned right in front of my eyes... :)

Are you running all your training by yourself? -cuz that's impressive.

You are totally going to blow your 3:35 marathon goal out of the water!!

Just keep training like you have and when your 2-3 wks out, taper, taper, taper! I was so nervous about tapering for my marathon in Nov because it was my first... I felt like I was loosing fitness the whole time but then the marathon was a great race w/o any problems... I exceeded my goals at the time by over 5 minutes. Now, I'm a believer! The taper is the key. Trust the taper!

From I Just Run on Wed, Mar 23, 2011 at 19:09:05 from 67.79.11.242

Yeah...I run with Mr. Garmin only... He doesn't always tell me what I want to know though. He only beeps at me each mile. :)

Thanks for the advice on tapering...I'm kinda like you in my thinking and afraid of loosing fitness over that length of time, but several are telling me the same thing...taper, taper, taper....!

The good thing about your run is the faster miles at the end. That is a sign of good conditioning I think.

From Rossy on Fri, Mar 25, 2011 at 10:58:15 from 167.138.234.16

Wow, nice 16 miler at a good pace, way to go!

From I Just Run on Fri, Mar 25, 2011 at 11:04:58 from 67.79.11.242

Hey Rossy,

Thanks...I need to be able to do this for 26+ miles. I'm hoping a little flatter course will help me pick up the pace a little too. I'm getting kinda nervous.
